What to Expect After Breast Reduction Surgery?

What to Expect After Breast Reduction Surgery?

Breast reduction is a cosmetic procedure that involves the removal of excess breast tissue and skin to reduce your breasts to a size that is proportionate to your body structure. Since this is an invasive procedure, you’ll need to physically and mentally prepare yourself. You need to know what to expect after breast reduction surgery, and this article tells you about everything that happens after a breast reduction procedure.

Recovery

Immediately after breast reduction surgery, you’ll feel weak, especially due to anesthesia. In most cases, a breast reduction procedure requires general anesthesia because the surgeon will make incisions on your breasts and remove excess skin and fat. The effects of the seductive will take about 24 hours to go away.

Your breasts will also feel sore for about two to three weeks because of the incisions and the liposuction tubes used to remove fat. But your doctor may give you some painkillers to manage the pain and discomfort during recovery. The soreness goes away gradually as you continue to heal. For a few weeks after breast reduction, you’ll get exhausted easily and experience a reduction in your usual energy. But this, too, will go away eventually.

You may be required to go back to the hospital after ten days to have the stitches removed. Immediately after the surgery, you might feel like there’s fluid moving in your breasts. This feeling is part of your healing process, and it will go away after a few days. You may also lose sensation in your breasts after the surgery, but it should return over time.

As they continue to heal, your breasts will look rounder and firmer. It will take some time before you get accustomed to your new breasts, and they’ll eventually soften and obtain the right shape after a while.

How to Care for Your Breast After the Reduction Surgery

The first two weeks after breast reduction surgery require you to get enough rest and sleep to allow your body to recover and heal quickly. You shouldn’t engage in heavy physical activities until your wounds are completely healed, including lifting heavy grocery bags, briefcases, and backpacks. Avoid lifting anything above your head for at least two weeks.

You should take your first shower a day after the drains and bandages are removed. You shouldn’t soak yourself in a bathtub, which should happen after about four weeks. Eat a balanced diet and take medication as advised.

Hands down this is the most amazing plastic surgery office! No haggling and Dr. Jacobs will not perform a surgery if the scar exceeds the benefit. His words exactly which is exactly what I want to know ahead of time not after the surgery is done. Dr. Jacobs is a phenomenal surgeon and I trust him 150%. Felecia his nurse is as wonderful as Dr. Jacobs!!
