Patient Information
- Q?Why should I consider having a surgery when there seems to be so many other quick fixes nowadays?
-
A.
Every technique whether surgical or non-surgical has its capacities and limitations. Each patient has his or her own needs that are in some ways unique. Our experience and training allows us to appropriately match these. While these so-called “quick fixes” may temporarily delaying surgery or camouflaging problem areas, surgery is the best method for actually altering one’s appearance more effectively. These days there are many procedures on the market that promise top notch results. While every person responds differently to procedures, it is safe to say that if these offerings sound “too good to be true” chances are they are just that.
- Q?How can I know if I am a good candidate for a procedure?
-
A.
There is no formula for determining whether or not a patient is a good fit for a procedure. The nature of the offerings we provide is intimate in that each patient must be evaluated on an individual basis. We invite you to browse our website for more information on the procedures we offer as well as our Before & After Gallery to see results from our past patients. If you feel you might be interested in a certain procedure, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (757) 491-3535 to schedule your own consultation.
- Q?Is it better to have multiple procedures performed at the same time or separately?
-
A.
Safety is the number one concern in terms of determining whether or not multiple procedures can be performed at the same time. While safety is of the utmost importance in making this decision, having multiple procedures at once offers the benefits of less recovery time, less time spent out of work and overall less cost to patients in terms of surgery costs for separate surgeries.
- Q?What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon?
-
A.
The major difference between a cosmetic and plastic surgeon is related to training and experience. A cosmetic surgeon is deemed capable in carrying out cosmetic procedures reserved solely for the face. The Greek root of the term plastic refers to the human form, meaning that plastic surgeons are equipped for a broad scope of surgical procedures involving all areas of the human form. Plastic surgeons complete 6-8 years of focused training, which provide a certain comfort with surgery all over the body as opposed to just the face. While all plastic surgeons can perform cosmetic surgery, not all cosmetic surgeons are capable of performing plastic surgery.
