Dr. John S. Alspaugh is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Virginia Beach, VA. Dr. Alspaugh and his partners, Dr. Denk and Dr. Jacobs, make up Associates in Plastic Surgery, a comprehensive practice that serves the needs of both cosmetic and reconstructive patients. Dr. Alspaugh has been a practicing plastic surgeon in the Hampton Roads area for more than 20 years.

Dr. John S. Alspaugh graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ohio State University in 1982 and again graduated cum laude. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor fraternity as a junior medical student.
Dr. Alspaugh then completed a five year General Surgery residency, where he culminated as Chief Resident at the Medical College of Virginia, 1982-1987. The following two years, 1987-1989, he was a Plastic and Reconstructive Resident at the Medical College of Virginia and was awarded the Theogaraj Academic Award.

He completed his medical training with Microsurgery Fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute, Louisville, KY in 1990. Dr. Alspaugh has been board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1992. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Medical Society of Virginia, Virginia Society of Plastic Surgery, The American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Alspaugh is experienced in all areas of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery but devotes most of his concentration on facial cosmetic surgery, breast surgery and body contouring. In order to stay abreast of the latest techniques and procedures, he attends numerous plastic and reconstructive surgery conferences across the country.

Dr. Alspaugh is the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons President-Elect for 2012.
He has volunteered for several reconstructive surgery missions to foreign countries including Guatemala and Vietnam.
